As a professional development course, you will be expected to complete a large amount of your study through self-directed study. You must complete case studies, projects and other homework as well as practice treatments during self-directed study time.

  • The Statement of Achievement in Spa Reflexology deals with the theory and practical areas of a reflexology treatment in a spa therapies context.
  • This course is the way to complete the Diploma in Spa Therapies on a part-time basis, with a maximum total of 4 credits towards that diploma, and a good way to "get your foot in the door" in the spa therapies industry.
  • Graduates successfully completing this course become a fully- and internationally-qualified spa reflexologist as recognised in New Zealand and most countries throughout the world.
  • Students who did not complete their beautician or beauty therapy qualification through the school (or ITEC, CIBTAC, and/or CIDESCO) may have to undergo Recognition of Prior Learning assessments prior to being accepted to this qualification.

Pre-Requisite Qualifications You Must Hold to Attend the Spa Reflexology Course

For Qualified Body Therapists

In order to be considered for enrolment into the Statement of Achievement in Spa Reflexology, the student must hold one of the following qualifications or equivalent (as determined by the school):

The National School of Aesthetics Certificate in Physiatrics; or
Physiatrics Diploma; or
Certificate in Body Therapy; or
Body Therapy Diploma; or
Statement of Achievement in Anatomy, Physiology & Massage
International Therapy Examination Council Physiatrics Diploma; or
Diploma in Physiatrics; or
Diploma in Anatomy, Physiology & Massage; or
Diploma in Holistic Massage
Confederation of International Beauty Therapy and Cosmetology Body Treatments Diploma; or
Body Massage Diploma and Anatomy & Physiology Diploma

You will also be expected to hold a current Workplace First Aid Certificate.

For Qualified Beauty Therapists or Massage Therapists

How the Spa Reflexology Course Fits into the Diploma in Spa Therapies

The Statement of Achievement in Spa Reflexology gives the student who successfully completes and graduates the course a total of 4 credits towards the Diploma in Spa Therapies (120 credits).

This course does not qualify a student as a fully-qualified Beauty or Spa Therapist upon completion.

Spa Reflexology Treatments

Aim: Students will be able to perform a reflexology treatment in a spa therapies context safely and effectively to an industry-acceptable standard in an industry-acceptable time-frame.

Prerequisites: The student must be successfully completing of have successfully completed the Swedish Massage and Anatomy & Physiology for Physiatrics courses before starting the Spa Reflexology Treatments course.

Students who have not successfully completed the course Professional Conduct & Business Awareness will be required to do so prior to completing this qualification.
