About the Diploma in Spa Therapies Course

  • The Diploma in Spa Therapies deals with the theory and practical areas of various spa therapies in a spa therapies context.
  • This course includes the Statement of Achievement in Indian Head Massage, Statement of Achievement in Lymphatic Drainage Massage, Statement of Achievement in Spa Aromatherapy, Statement of Achievement in Spa Reflexology and many other areas not included in any other certificate or diploma in our organisation.
  • Graduates successfully completing this course become a fully- and internationally-qualified spa therapist as recognised in New Zealand and most countries throughout the world.
  • Two options exist for this qualification:
    • Qualified beauticians (facial therapy only) without any recognised massage therapy qualifications will have to undertake the anatomy & physiology and Swedish massage courses before undertaking the spa therapies components.
    • Qualified beauty therapists (facial, body and electrology therapies) who hold both their recognised facial therapy and body therapy qualifications will only have to undertake the spa therapies components.
    • Students who did not complete their beautician or beauty therapy qualification through us (or ITEC, CIBTAC, and/or CIDESCO) may have to undergo Recognition of Prior Learning assessments prior to being accepted to this qualification.

This course is approved by the New Zealand Qualifications Authority under the provisions of the Education Act 1989, and the National School of Aesthetics is accredited to teach it.

For Qualified Beauticians

In order to be considered for enrolment into the Diploma in Spa Therapies (all components, including the Statement of Achievement in Anatomy, Physiology and Massage), the student must hold one of the following qualifications or equivalent (as determined by the school):

How the Diploma in Spa Therapies Course Fits into the Diploma in Spa Therapies

Successful completion of the Diploma in Spa Therapies grants the student 156 credits in spa therapies, unless they have completed the Diploma in Beauty Therapy & Applied Aesthetics or Certificate in Physatrics (Body Therapy), whereby they will gain 120 credits.

This is the most comprehensive, "purest", internationally-intergrated and longest-running spa therapies qualification in the South Island, and one of the most comprehensive spa therapies qualifications in New Zealand.
