Our new programme approvals for the 2020 academic year have been with the New Zealand Qualifications Authority (NZQA) since July 2019.
Last week, NZQA and we agreed that we would take a two-pronged approach to getting the programme approvals through the process:
First, we would concentrate on getting the New Zealand Diploma in Beauty Therapy programme approved and accredited first as this was an entirely new programme and accreditation.
Then, once that programme was approved and accredited, we would then concentrate on getting the combined New Zealand Certificate and Diploma in Beauty Therapy programme approved and accredited as this is a combination of the already approved New Zealand Certificate in Beauty Therapy programme and the going-through-approval New Zealand Diploma in Beauty Therapy programme.
Yesterday, NZQA formally approved our New Zealand Diploma in Beauty Therapy programme. We are also accredited to teach it.
This programme will only be offered to current New Zealand Certificate in Beauty Therapy students studying with us who want to gain the diploma as well (numbers permitting).
All new students from 2020 will be offered the combined New Zealand Certificate and Diploma in Beauty Therapy programme only for studying beauty therapy.
This morning, we submitted an application to the Tertiary Education Commission (TEC) for funding approval for the New Zealand Diploma in Beauty Therapy programme. We already have made our 2020 funding plans available to TEC.
